Today in session, the Commissioners proclaimed May as Older Americans Month in Delaware County and heard an update on the services @sourcepoint provides to improve the lives of those ages 55 and older.
Chief Programs Officer Amelia Tucciarone praised the work of the dedicated group of volunteers who help SourcePoint carry out its mission, including those who delivering food through the Meals on Wheels program.
During the last census period, the total population of Delaware County increased by 23% while the 55+ population grew 46%. The 85+ population is expected to grow even faster, increasing by 70% from 2020 to 2035.
