CENSUS 2020!!

As far back as 1790, we’ve been counting everyone who lives in this country. We call it the Census. And America’s founders included the Census in the Constitution because they wanted a government that represents the people. Article 1 Section 2 mandates that a census occur every ten years. And that count is used to allocate seats in the House of Representatives for the next 10 years for all 50 states.

But the Census is all that and more. It’s a once-a-decade chance to track the shifts in population across our country. Where do we need to build more schools, hospitals, and roads? Your response to the 2020 Census will inform how billions in federal funding flow to communities every year. In the spring of 2020, everyone in our country will get counted.

So, whether you are a recent graduate or a retiree, farmer or factory worker, artist or aspiring astronaut, this message is for you. You count! Grandparents count, newborns count, and everyone you’ve seen today counts. If you’ve lived in the country only a few weeks or for your entire life, you count. If you live alone, with family, with friends, or with people you don’t know all that well, you all count. Everyone counts!

And everyone living in your household on April 1st needs to get counted as part of the 2020 Census. So when you get your invitation from the U.S. Census Bureau to participate in the 2020 Census, we’re counting on you to participate. Visit www.2020census.gov or regionalplanning.co.delaware.oh.us/data/census/ for more information.

There will be an increase on July 1. 2020 to $29.63 a quarter and on July 1, 2021 to $31.14 a quarter. The contract will expire on June 30, 2022. The residents last invoice received from Republic Services is only for the month of August, 2019. Rumpke will invoice the residents starting September 1, 2019. Oxford Township will continue to pay for part of the resident’s quarterly fee (township’s share is $20.79 per quarter per residence).

The township’s trash collection day will remain on Wednesdays at this time.  If you have a waste container with Republic Services, it will be switched out by Rumpke.

After September 1, 2019 (Rumpke will not accept any calls prior to September 1, 2019) residents can reach Rumpke directly by contacting Rumpke’s Customer Service Center at centralohio.market@rumpke.com or by calling 1-800-828-8171.
